Jayakar was not a "flying ace" as he never flew with the RAF. he was commissioned in the Admin Branch. The photograph of him in the National Portrait Gallery has him spuriously wearing pilot wings when he did not undergo flying training at all with the RAf. |

Jayapal Mukund Jayakar (1912 - 1 January 1981), was the first Indian to receive a commission in the Royal Air Force (RAF). He conducted the 24 Indian pilots seconded to the UK in 1940. He was the son of M. R. Jayakar.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
